The history of the Hamburg University Guesthouse
To mark the 40th anniversary of the guesthouse, the "Stiftung Weltweite Wissenschaft" (Global Science Foundation) published the history of the guesthouse, entitled "Metamorphoses of a Hostel". In it, visitors, event organisers, sponsors and everyone who supports the guesthouse can find out about its past history, the era in which it was founded, the International meeting centre (Internationales Begegnungszentrum, IBZ) and the many developments that the house has seen over the years.

Since its publication, another 10 years have passed and 2013 saw the celebrations to mark the 50th Anniversary of the guesthouse. The story continues. Changes of the past ten years, such as restoration, renovation and new furniture, have been documented, interviews conducted, and lots of photos have been taken.
The Swiss journalist Regula Zehnder, who has herself been a guest at the University Guesthouse, was busy working on the new "Metamorphoses of a Hostel".
